This installment we welcome DJ / Producer Darryn Jones & local sensation CTRLZORA along with Sophisticado Recordings and Bridgeport Records co-owner DJ / Producer Vick Lavender.

About Darryn Jones:

Darryn began his deejaying craft of rare grooves by buying records from any place and anyone he could. Darryn continued his quest in the art up to 1987, then stepped away for some years. He never gave up the search for the black gold which turned out to be perhaps a blessing in disguise. On his return in 2006, Darryn brought with him something different to the Chicago House Scene: the Durties in Disco Funk, which had been highly rejected. His style has influenced the dark underground, disco and funk scene massively. Darryn has residences known as THE DURTY TRUTH once a month for the true Underground dance scene

About CTRLZORA:

CTRLZORA is a Chicago musician, (The Cowrie) event and mix series curator, disc jockey, and black queer dance music equitist dedicated to preserving the act of sonic communion of marginalized people through house, techno, and other rhythms throughout the world. Mentored and collaborating with the very pioneers of the art form in Chicago, they frequently travel across the country platforming midwestern sounds and aiding in the reclamation of dance music as a liberatory birthright to all diasporic people.

About Vick Lavender:

As a DJ and producer, Vick has been a global music aficionado for over 30 years and continues to elevate the genre of deep & soulful house music by creating unique rhythms and world beats representing jazz/soul fusion as well as Afro-Cuban rhythms. His mastery of this unique sound gives his music the ability to call to our ancestral spirit and permeate the soul of its listener.

Owner of Sophisticado Recordings & Co-Owner of Bridgeport Records located in The Bridgeport neighborhood of Chicago. Vick has played in South Africa, NYC, Toronto, Italy, & recently Thibilsi Georgia. His sound as a DJ & producer is a unique one.
